Professional Development & Environmental Education Training for Educators 

Research shows that well-integrated, nature-based education activities can improve children’s academic achievement, behavior, well-being, and physical development.

Keep Omaha Beautiful's workshops help teachers to be effective at inspiring their students to be knowledgeable, committed stewards of the environment. Participants receive certification in nationally respected environmental education curricula, including: 

  • Project Learning Tree
  • Project WET 
  • Project WILD

The Durham Museum’s 2026 Teachers' Night is scheduled for Friday, October 2, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This free event allows educators to explore the museum, enjoy a complimentary meal, enter prize drawings, and connect with dozens of local non-profit and educational vendors. Stop by the Keep Omaha Beautiful booth to say hello and learn about our classroom resources and training programs!


About KOB's Certification Courses

The following applies to all educator-certification courses offered by Keep Omaha Beautiful:

  • Workshop participants include early childhood educators, K-12 teachers, and informal educators. 
  • Courses are offered at little to no cost to participants. 
  • Through these workshops, participants become certified in the respective environmental education curriculum and gain the knowledge and hands-on experiences to help them engage their young learners in environmental education activities. 
  • Participants will receive a curriculum guide full of lesson plans and activities (that align with academic standards) that can be used in outdoor and indoor settings throughout the entire year. 
  • As certified environmental educators, participants are also granted online access to additional resources. 
  • KOB provides ongoing support to help educators fully integrate environmental education into their teaching.
