PLEASE NOTE: KOB involvement depends on staff availability, which is especially limited during our busiest seasons (April and September). KOB reviews submitted requests on a weekly basis, and an appropriate staff member will follow up within 10 business days.

Composting: Turn Your Waste into Something Wonderful »
Dig into the world of composting and discover how to turn everyday organic waste into a valuable resource. More than a third of waste sent to U.S. landfills consists of food scraps and yard trimmings. By taking simple steps to compost these materials instead, we can turn them into a beneficial resource and reduce negative consequences in landfills. Composting can look different for everyone: from backyard bins, to mulch-mowing leaves, to utilizing community drop-off sites or commercial composting facilities. Participants will learn about the various types of composting and local resources in our area, and then determine what’s right for their routine.

About Keep Omaha Beautiful »
Keep Omaha Beautiful (KOB) is a local nonprofit that encourages environmental stewardship in our community. KOB believes everyone has a role to play, and connects people to the natural world through hands-on service projects and educational outreach, as well as citywide efforts to prevent pollution and improve Omaha’s tree canopy. From classroom education and online resources, to tree plantings and neighborhood cleanups, KOB helps people turn knowledge into environmental action. Participants will enjoy learning about the positive environmental efforts happening in our community, and discover how they can get involved and contribute to a healthy urban ecosystem.
