Omaha's orange bag program for hard-to-recycle plastics

In Omaha, there's a solution for many types of plastic items that cannot be recycled through traditional methods. EMPTY and CLEAN plastic and foam items can be placed in an orange Hefty® ReNew® bag, which will be collected through Omaha's residential curbside recycling and drop-off site services. To participate, you can purchase Hefty® ReNew® orange bags at many local retailers. When filled with accepted materials and tied shut, the bright orange bag is the ONLY bag that can be placed in a curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container.

Note: First Star Recycling offers the local orange bag program to collect hard-to-recycle plastics in our community. If you choose to participate in the program, orange bags will be collected through existing City of Omaha recycling services and taken to First Star for processing.
