Leadership Transition Announcement

Dear friends and fans of Keep Omaha Beautiful,

After nearly seven years of tireless work to further Keep Omaha Beautiful’s mission and values, Chris Stratman has announced that he will depart his role as executive director in late summer of 2022 to pursue a new opportunity with Kiewit Luminarium.

Chris’s vision and leadership will be greatly missed by the organization’s staff, board, volunteers, supporters, and partners alike. We wish him the best of luck in his next chapter.

During his tenure, Chris has been the driving force behind the organization's growth and success. A brief sample of his many accomplishments include:

  • Establishing KOB as a model nonprofit for the delivery of accessible and inclusive environmental education programming
  • Expanding the KOB team from two to six full-time staff, and significantly increasing programmatic impact
  • Helping develop and implement the Trees for Omaha & Trees for Schools initiatives
  • Facilitating over 80,000 hours of community service & engagement through the organization’s vast array of volunteer opportunities
  • Cultivating new and sustaining ongoing partnerships with dozens of local organizations
  • Being a constant champion for environmental sustainability & equity in our community

In the coming weeks, KOB’s board will conduct a thorough search to find the organization’s next executive director. It is our priority to find an experienced and dynamic leader with a true passion for KOB’s mission to inspire environmental and community stewardship. This person will continue to guide and shape the organization’s premier environmental education programs and strategic sustainability initiatives. We invite all of our supporters to share the Executive Director job opening with potential candidates who may be interested in leading KOB into the future, furthering the organization’s growth and impact.

Thank you,

Patrick Leahy

A Letter from the Executive Director

As I approach seven years at Keep Omaha Beautiful (KOB), I wanted to let you know that I will conclude my time with the organization later this summer. I leave on the best of terms with a strong board of directors, talented staff, incredible community partners, and an impressive group of volunteers and supporters. My next venture involves staying in Omaha and joining the team at Kiewit Luminarium.

I am extremely proud of all that the KOB staff, board, volunteers, and community partners have accomplished during my tenure with the organization, and I am very appreciative of the relationships that I’ve developed via this role.

I would like to convey my deepest gratitude to all who have been so supportive of the organization and of me personally over the years including: staff, board members, stewardship council representatives, community advisors, program partners, funders, and volunteers. Without all of you, KOB would not be as strong and vibrant as it is today. I am so honored to have served in a leadership capacity for this incredible organization and will watch with much excitement and anticipation as it continues to fulfill its mission.

KOB’s board will now conduct a thorough candidate search to find the organization's next executive director. Their priority is to find a dynamic leader with a true passion for our mission: to foster environmental and community stewardship through education, service, and advocacy. The job announcement is available at this link. We ask for your help in sharing this opportunity with candidates who may be interested and qualified to lead KOB into the future.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Keep Omaha Beautiful, and for helping make Omaha a more sustainable community.

Chris Stratman
