Information on Litter Hotline

Nebraskans who spot people littering in Douglas and Lancaster counties can
report the matter to a new litter hotline. Littering in the two counties
can be reported by calling 1-877-NO-LITTR (877-665-4887).

Callers to the hotline will be asked for the license plate of the vehicle involved,
a brief description of the vehicle, the location of the incident, the date and time
and what item was littered.

Information then will be sent to the appropriate sheriff's office. The registered owner
of the vehicle, the litter was seen coming from, will receive a letter detailing the
incident. It will also explain the penalties for littering in Nebraska. The letter will
include a car litter bag. No tickets will be issued based on reports to the hotline.
The Litter Hotline for Douglas and Lancaster Counties is a 2-year pilot program.
After that time, Keep Nebraska Beautiful plans on expanding the program to the
entire state.

If you would like a small window cling with the Litter Hotline phone number to put
